Peace It Together

I'm a huge fan of the Eraserheads, they're probably my favorite band of all time, and I even named my personal blog after their debut album (ultraelectromagneticpop), so it was a shock to me to hear about Ely Buendia's heart attack earlier this week.
I'm glad that he's ok, and it's pretty cool that GMANews.TV has been on top of the story all week. Already, we've filed
five stories and five videos about the incident. I even got to use on of the cool new features of the site, which enables a user to get the latest updates on a search via RSS. You can get all the latest updates on Ely through your RSS reader by adding
this feed to your list.
The biggest scoop out of the reports came from last night's
Chika Minute video, where Ely's wife Dianne thanked Ely's colleagues who have expressed support for the Pupil front man. The first name on the list was Buddy Zabala, the E-heads bass player and the best friend of E-heads drummer Raimund Marasigan, the Sandwich front man with whom Ely had a falling out before the Eraserheads broke up.
Everyone, including rap icon Francis M., has started calling for
an Eraserheads reunion. Raimund hasn't said a word on the issue on the Sandwich mailing list, although I'd be watching Sandwich's guest spot on Eat Bulaga this Saturday hoping that he'd give at least a shout-out to his former comrade.
Anyway, while we're waiting, I'd like to share an Eraserheads track from the (out-of-print) album "Natin99" which showcases the band in all their psychedelic glory. Rumors float around at the time that the relationships of the members got so bad during the recording that they couldn't stand being in the studio together, so they just recorded their parts on their own and 'cut-and-paste' the bits later. The song itself distinct vocal parts from both Ely and Raimund, and ironically, starts off with a message of peace:
We can if we wanted to
Let's start with me and you
Both of us together
Basag, ipag-dikit-dikit
Pusong punit-punit
We gotta peace it togetherEraserheads - Peace It TogetherLabels: eraserheads, music, work
