All Pope, all the time
I was still here at the office last night when news broke that a new pope had been chosen. Since I was already here, I ended up with the task to produce the story on the website, and by 1:00 AM last night we had already broken the story.It was pretty cool, witnessing history like that, but I have to admit, I was pretty disappointed with the choice when it was first announced. I was hoping the College of Cardinals would elect someone more progressive, but they went the other way.
I would like to think that this decision wouldn't affect me, but I couldn't help but be affected by it. As Father Robert Reyes said, "The Catholic church should be a vehicle for social change in a way that it failed to be under Pope John Paul... I believe Catholicism and liberal and progressive ideas can come together."
Of course, some people point out that Cardinal Ratzenberger wasn't as inflexible as his public image seemed.
We'll see. Chances are there won't be a miracle and all we'll get is more of the same. Tough luck for a country full of people who go to church every week, praying for some sort of miracle in their lives.

some say they know cardinal ratzinger but they really don't know him. personally, i think that our new pope, benedictum xvi, will follow the example of his namesake predecessor, benedictum xv. benedict xv is a diplomat, sinasabi ngang he's nuts since he preached peace when the world is at war (world war i). by choosing that name, our new pope hope to reconcile with the world, at the same time, be faithful to the teachings of our Lord.
for filipino catholics, many of them have faith but don't have works, i.e. equally sharing their lots, wealth, time, etc. sabi nga sa james 2:26, faith without works is dead. puro sila hingi ng hingi, 'di naman marunong magbigay, kahit oras nila.

Pope BenedictXVI may not look as gentle as Pope John Paul II, but he is the shepherd now and his goal is to lead the flock towards the light and save them from the wickedness of humanity, and no, I do not believe that liberalism and conservatism can come together. What the Church teaches, it practices, save for a few.And the morals have the free will.

How? There is a lot of opposition that it will encounter that they COULD end up with no conclusion.
